DHAKA: A mild tremor measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale jolted the country early Friday.

The tremor was felt at 12:14:37am, said the US Geological Survey (USGS).

The epicenter of the earthquake was located in Khawhai of neighboring India, some 330 kilometers east of the seismic centre in Dhaka, according to USGS.

The tremor, however, was felt in one fourth districts of the country, including Dhaka, Narayanganj, Chittagong, Khagrachari, Rangamati, Bandatban, Sylhet, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Sunamganj, Comilla, Feni, Noakhali, Chandpur, Sirajganj and Rajshahi.
