DHAKA: War crimes convict Jamaat-e-Islami chief Motiur Rahman Nizami challenged death penalty handed down by International Crimes Tribunal-1 for crimes against humanity during Liberation War in 1971.
Defense lawyer on Sunday submitted an appeal, consisting of 6,252 pages, to Supreme Court Appellate Division showing 168 causes and sought acquittal from the charges.
However, Zainul Abedin Tuhin made ‘Advocate on Record’ in the appeal.
Earlier on October 29, the 3-member war crimes tribunal sentenced Nizami to death on charges of no 2, 4, 6, 16 and life-term imprisonment on 1, 3, 7 and 8 no charges.
