DHAKA: National People’s Party (NPP) and Nationalist Democratic Front (NDF) have reiterated their prescheduled program of calling countrywide hartal for Tuesday (November 25) if the government does not arrest Latif Siddique by Monday.
NDF president Shawkat Hossain Nilu confirmed the matter to banglanews Sunday night.
He said we gave the ultimatum of calling hartal if the government does not arrest Latif Siddique for his demeaning remarks about hajj, Hazarat Mohammad (PBUH) and Tablighi Jamaat.
“He (Latif Siddique) has returned home on Sunday night but the government is yet to arrest him. We will observe the matter till 5:00pm Monday. We will observe countrywide hartal if the government does not arrest him by Tuesday,” he added.
Recently, Latif Siddique was sacked from the ruling Awami League cabinet, expelled from the party presidency and later from the party for his comments about hajj, Hazarat Mohammad (PBUH) and Tablighi Jamaat.
