DHAKA: The countrywide dawn to dusk hartal called by Nationalist Democratic Front (NDF) demanding the arrest of sacked minister Abdul Latif Siddique, is underway on Tuesday.
However, the thoroughfares’ were seen busy like other days’ morning.
Inter-district buses were seen leaving from Gabtoli, Sayedabad and Mahakhali bus stands in city.
No picketers were seen on roads till the filing of this report.
Law enforcers also did not take any special measure for the hartal day.
Various religions based political parties and organisations have become vocal about the arrest of expelled minister Abdul Latif Siddique when he returned home on an Indian Airlines’ jet on Sunday (November 23) night.
Islami Oikya Jote called hartal for Wednesday while Hefajat-e-Islami Ameer Ahmed Shafi called hartal for Thursday on the same demand.
Incumbent Awami League expelled Abdul Latif Siddique from the cabinet and party presidency following the demeaning remarks about hajj, Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH) and Tablighi Jamaat on September 29.
Later, his primary membership of the party also was terminated regarding the comments.
