DHAKA: A five-member committee has been formed to probe the death incident of the former Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) managing director and chief editor Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury.
The road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader made the disclosure to the journalists on Sunday morning after visiting Road Security Activities at Sangsad Avenue in city.
Expressing his deep condolence at the death and recalling Zaglul's invaluable contribution to the country, he said there that the committee has been formed to find out the cause of the accident, identifying the responsible persons and to submit recommendations.
The probe committee, led by Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) director and also a joint secretary Mashiur Rahman, includes the Daily Bhorer Kagoj editor Shyamal Dutt, Traffic Police deputy commissioner Imtiaz Ahmed, Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA) city planner Nahmadul Hasan and Dhaka North City Corporation traffic officer Khandakar Mahbubur Rahman.
The committee will submit the report within three next working days.
Earlier, Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury, the former national news agency chief and also an international relation analyzer, died in a road accident in the city’s Kawran bazaar intersection Saturday night.
