DHAKA: ‘Swadhinata Padak’ award winning artist Qayyum Chowdhury has passed away at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in city Sunday night.

The veteran artist suddenly fell sick during his speech on the fourth-day of Bengal Foundation organized classical music festival in Bangladesh Army Stadium at 8:40pm.

Festival organizers told banglanews that the artist suddenly felt unconscious during his speech and fell down on the floor. He received head injury.

Then, he was rushed to the CMH, where on-duty doctor pronounced him dead.

Cantonment Thana Officer-in-Charge Atiqur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
