DHAKA: The High Court (HC) has ordered to take necessary steps within 48 hours in stopping the sales of unlicensed wine and beer in city’s Gulshan and Banani areas.

The bench of Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice Mohammad Khasruzzaman passed the order on Monday after hearing of a writ on people’s interest.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner and director general (DG) of Narcotics Control Department and its director (operation) have been asked to execute the order.

They are also asked to submit a progress report to the court by 10 days.
