DHAKA: The operation of Mohona Hospital was suspended for its alleged negligence in providing due treatment to senior journalist Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury, who succumbed to his injuries following a road accident in the city.
Health affairs ministry also asked authorities concerned to form a probe body immediately to look into the matter.
Health Minister Mohammad Nasim on Monday issued the order after the probe body of his ministry informed him after a primary inquiry.
Earlier Saturday night, Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury, the former managing director of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), also an international relation analyzer, died in a road accident in the city’s Karwan Bazar intersection.
With several injuries in his body and bleeding profusely, he was whisked off to Mohona Hospital on Green Road in the city.
Zaglul Ahmed was later shifted to Comfort Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.
The road transport and bridges ministry on Sunday formed a five-member committee to probe the death incident of Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury.
The probe committee, led by Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) director and also a joint secretary Mashiur Rahman, has been asked to submit the report within three next working days.
The committee members include the Daily Bhorer Kagoj editor Shyamal Dutt, Traffic Police deputy commissioner Imtiaz Ahmed, Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA) city planner Nahmadul Hasan and Dhaka North City Corporation traffic officer Khandakar Mahbubur Rahman.
