DHAKA: The High Court on Tuesday granted bail to Tanvir Rahman, accused of the murder of journalist couple Sagar Sarwar and Meherun Runi.

An HC bench comprising Justice Nizamul Huq and Justice Nurul Huda Jaigirdar passed the order in the noon.

Earlier, the lower court and High Court rejected Tanvir’s bail plea several times.

Sagor Sarowar, News Editor of Maasranga Television and his wife Meherun Runi, a Senior Correspondent of the ATN Bangla, were killed at their Rajabazar residence in city on February 11 of 2012.

Runi’s brother Nawsher Alam filed a law suit with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Thana on the next day in this regard.

Detective Branch (DB) of Police started the investigation of the murder, but after two months, the responsibility was handed over to RAB after an order of the High Court.
