DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Wednesday awarded death penalty to a man and life-term imprisonment to another person for their involvement in killing Milton Barua.

The death convict is Alam alias Afsar and the life imprisonment awarded is Rubel.

Rezaul Islam of Dhaka Special Judge Court-5 passed the order.

Milton was killed in city’s Ramna area, sources added.

The court sent Rubel to jail after declaring the verdict while the death convict Alam is fugitive.

The case statement said, on October 23 in 2011, Milton and Raihan were injured critically as miscreants chopped them on Bailey Road adjacent to Officers Club while they were returning home by motorbike. Later, Milton died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital at 11:30pm.

On October 24, a murder case was filed with Ramna Thana in this connection.
