Security guard killed in city road crash

DHAKA: A man was killed as a rashly driven truck knocked him down in Jurain area of the capital on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Kalam Sheikh, 60, hailed from Pirojpur district, was as a security guard at Salam Steel Mills.

Mukul Mia, a colleague of Kalam, said that a rashly driven truck knocked Kalam down in the area at 5:00pm while he was crossing road after their duty, leaving him injured critically.

Later, locals rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

DMCH Police Camp In-Charge Mozammel Haque confirmed the matter.
