DHAKA: Demanding the due salaries, the workers of two ready-made garments factories besieged Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) building in the city on Wednesday.

Witnesses said the workers of Sunadi Knitwear and Topaz Garments situated in Uttar Badda started gathering in front of BGMEA building from 4:00pm.

General Secretary Tapan Saha of Textile Garments Workers Federation said the workers of Cundi Knitwear did not get the salary of September, October and November. Topaz Garments workers were also deprived to get the salaries.

However, a week ago, the workers placed their demands to the BGMEA authorities. The officials assured that they would get salary within a week.

But, the workers have been forced for demonstration as their problems does not solve yet.

While contacted, BGMEA vice president M Shahidul Azim was unavailable on the phone.

According to the information, the main gate of the BGMEA building was closed.
