FENI: An on-duty policeman was killed when a truck ran over him on Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Mahipal intersection of the district Wednesday morning.

The deceased was identified as a traffic constable Moinul Islam, 55, son of late Abu Taher of Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria district.

Highway police sources said a truck (Bograt-Ta 11-076) hit Moinul at the intersection around 7:00am while he was discharging his duty, leaving him critically injured.

He succumbed to his injures on way to hospital.

Mahipal Highway police outpost In-Charge Sub-Inspector (SI) Saleh Ahmmad confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Police sized the truck though its driver and helper managed to escape, the SI said.
