CHITTAGONG: Police arrested 10 alleged activists of banned Islamic outfit Hizb ut-Tahrir in Andar Killa area under Kotowali Thana of the port city on Friday noon.
The details of the detainees could not be known immediately.
Police sources said the activists of Hizb ut-Tahrir were held while they were distributing leaflets in front of Andar Killa Shahi Jam-e-Masjid and tried to bring out a procession in the area around 2:30pm after the Jumma prayers.
Police also seized some anti-government banners and leaflets from their possession.
Assistant Commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Shah Mohammad Abdur Rab confirmed the matter to banglanews.
