Bangladesh sends 100 tonnes water to Maldives

DHAKA: The Government of Bangladesh on Saturday is sending 100 tonnes of drinking water and five desalination plants to Male as a fire in the desalination plant in Male, the capital of the Maldives, stopped the supply of drinking water to the city.

Bangladesh has been sending the water to address the emergency situation, says a press release issued by the External Publicity Wing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The water and the desalination plants would be transported by Bangladesh Navy ship, it added.
