KHAGRACHHARI: Daylong hartal, called by ‘Sarbadaliya Sachetan Nagarik Committee’ was observed in Manikchhari upazila on Monday protesting the killing of a school teacher.

However, a daylong blockade program has also been observed in Panchhari upazila protesting the gun attack on a couple by armed man.

Locals called the hartal after a rally held in front of Gachchabil Collegiate High School protesting the killing on Saturday night.

Manikchhari Upazila Parishad chairman Snaragya Marma on Sunday declared the demonstration.

Shops and private educational institutions remained closed due to the hartal and transport communications halted on Khagrachhari-Chittagong road.

Internal transport communication was also stopped during the hartal.

On the other hand, the blockade, called by ‘Parbatya Bangali Chhatra Parishad’, was observed in Khagrachhari’s Shapla Chattar on the same day.

Vehicle plying remained clogged in internal roads and Khagrachhari-Panchhari road.
