NAOGAON: A freedom fighter was hacked to death by miscreants at Ushti village in Patnitala upazila of the district on Tuesday night in the month of country’s victory.

The deceased was identified as Nazim Uddin, 60, resident of the village.

Sources told banglanews that miscreants hacked the freedom fighter with sharp weapons at night bringing him out of the home after making a call, leaving him dead on the spot.

Confirming the matter, officer-in-charge (OC) of Patnitala Thana, Abdur Rafique said that police, on information, recovered the body.

However, the law enforcers have already detained eight suspects in this connection, he added. They were interrogated, he added.

Nazim might have been killed over previous enmity, police sources added.

A case was filed following the murder, Rafique added.
