DHAKA: The government has agreed in principle to take initiatives in launching dual apprenticeship for students who obtained Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC).
State Minister for Labour and Manpower Mujibul Haque Chunnu was addressing a workshop on ‘National Consultation on Apprenticeship Strategy for Bangladesh’ at a city on Wednesday.
According to the plan, HSC-passed students will attend educational institutions for three days and work with apprenticeship at the companies related to their subjects for three other days, said the state minister.
He said the students after their apprenticeship would join at the similar companies.
Expressing hope, the minister said, “It will make Bangladesh a country of skilled human resources.”
Students in Switzerland, Germany and Australia also work with dual apprenticeship, Chunnu informed the participants.
Several recommendations were put forward at the workshop including allowance for works, campaign on apprenticeship recruitment, strong monitoring, continuity of performance, and launching of related pilot projects and job assurance.
Francis D Silva of BSET project, MCCWE chairperson Zakir Hossain and NSVC chief executive ABM Khorshed Alam, among others, spoke at the function.
