DHAKA: Fog has disrupted service at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Thursday, with three flights diverted to Kolkata Airport.
Three flights of Kuwait and Turkey Airways were diverted to Kolkata Airport due to the bad weather, said sources concerned.
Airport officials, however, feared collapse of flight schedule due to blurred visibility caused by heavy fog as more flights are scheduled to land at airport this morning.
A Bangladesh Biman flight from Kuwait was scheduled to land at the airport at 8:45am, one of Kuwait Airways at 4:30am, one of Turkey Airways from Istanbul at 12:55am, one of United Airways from Kula Lumpur at 7:55am, a Regent Airways flight from Kula Lumpur at 8:20am while an Air Arabia flight from Sharjah at 9:05am, said the officials.
Besides, a flight of Emirates Airways from Dubai and one of Qatar Airways from Doha were set to land at Shahjalal around 10:07am and at 9:30am respectively.
Not only international flights, but also domestic flights are facing schedule collapse due to dense fog. A Bangladesh Biman flight from Chittagong was set to land at Dhaka airport at 7:55am.
No flight landed at Shahjalal till 9:00am, said Airport officials.
In another development, two flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines with 500 passengers from Bangkok and Kuwait were diverted to Chittagong Shah Amanat Airport after failing to land at Shahjalal.
The flights left the airport for Dhaka at 11:30am with half an hour margin.
Besides, three Dhaka-bound domestic flights delayed 40-45 minutes to leave the Airport due to bad weather in the capital.
