Joint secy Jahangir sent on forced retirement

DHAKA: The government has sent joint secretary AKM Jahangir, an officer on special duty (OSD), on forced retirement for breaching public service rules.

The public administration ministry issued a gazette notification, signed by additional secretary (APD) Mahibul Haque, to this effect on Thursday.

The gazette notification stated that Jahangir, who met with BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, has been sent on retirement for the sake of the public interest.

According to the order, as the joint-secretary has completed his 25 years of service, the government has taken the decision to send him to retirement following the Public Servant (Retirement) Act, 1974.

He will get his post-retirement facilities, the order added.
