MOULVIBAZAR: A person has chopped his elder brother to death in Shyamorkona area under sadar upazila of the district on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Bari, 65, resident of the area.

Police sources said that Abdul Bari and his younger brother Afruz Mia locked into an altercation over land dispute in the area around 5:30pm.

At one stage, Afruz chopped his elder brother Abdul Bari with local lethal weapon, leaving him injured critically.

Locals rushed him to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital where on-duty doctor declared him dead.

The body was then taken to hospital morgue for autopsy.

However, a case was filed in this connection.

Moulvibazar Model Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdus Saleq confirmed the matter to banglanews.
