DHAKA: The fifth session of the 10th parliament is set to begin on Monday afternoon.
The first session of this year will start at 4:00pm through delivering speech by President Abdul Hamid based on government activities highlighting its development works.
Parliament sources said general discussion on thanks giving motion on President's speech will be taken place in the session.
The parliament business advisory committee will sit at 3:00pm to finalize the rules of business and the duration of the fifth session.
Regarding the matter, Parliament chief whip ASM Firoz said all kind of preparation has been completed for first session of this year. BNP-Jamaat called blockade will not create any obstruction in parliamentary duty.
Parliament’s law unit sources said two new bills were submitted for the fifth session till Monday. Besides, there are four pending bills for the session in the secretariat. New bills are Financial Reporting Bill-2014 and Formalin Control Bill-2014.
Pending bills are The Trading Corporation Bangladesh Order (amendment) Bil-2014, Bangladesh Oceanographic Research Institution Bill-2014, Speedy Supply of Power and Energy (Special Provision) (Amendment) Act-2014 and Metro Rail Bill 2014.
The first session of the 10th parliament commenced on January 29, 2014 after January 5 elections amid boycott of BNP-Jamaat alliance. The fourth JS session ended on November 30.
