JCD calls hartal in Dhaka for Wedn, Thursday

DHAKA: Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal on Tuesday called for a 36-hour hartal in district and city starting on Wednesday morning, protesting the ‘killing’ of a JCD leader.

JCD called the hartal in protest of the “killing” of Khilgaon Thana Chhatra Dal general secretary Nuruzzaman Zoni.

Earlier on Monday night, joint secretary general of BNP, mother organization of JCD, called hartal for Wednesday and Thursday in Dhaka and Khulna divisions protesting ‘false’ cases, arrests and demanding release of party leaders and activists.

JCD office secretary Abdus SAttar Patwari confirmed about the shutdown to banglanews.

In a statement in this regard, central JCD president Rajib Ahsan and general secretary M Akramul Hasan said incumbent government is dreaming about prolonging its reign by killing JCD leaders.

They also alleged the government has been dreaming of ruling the country like the fascist government of 1972-75.

They also called the government to step down from the power immediately.
