SHUJAN asks President’s interference solving crisis

DHAKA: Speakers at a roundtable have asked President, as guardian of the country, to take steps solving all political problems permanently.

They were speaking at the roundtable titled ‘National Dialogue to Solve National Crisis’ organized by Shujan-Citizens for Good Governance at city’s Institution of Engineers on Saturday.

Dr Badiul Alam Majumder, secretary of the organization, however, prescribed a formula to get rid of the prevailing crisis.

“All of us should be united in three specific points--the neutral government, fair election commission and solving all misunderstanding from the constitution,” he said.

On the other hand, former Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) general secretary (GS) Dr Mushtak Hossain said that BNP chief Khaleda Zia should give up turmoil for the environment of dialogue.

“The law enforcing units also should stop extra-judicial killing,” he added: “They can also release all the political detainees.”

The government, according to the former DUCSU GS, can complete dialogue within six months.

Former caretaker government adviser M Hafiz Uddin Khan chaired the program conducted by Dr Shahdeen Malik.
