SYLHET: Two people were killed and 12 others injured in a road accident in Burunga area under Osmaninagar upazila of the district on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Azar Ali, 50 and Shayesta Mia, 38, residents of the upazila.

Quoting witnesses assistant director of Sylhet Fire Service said that two pedestrians were crushed under a passenger bus of Shyamoli Paribahan after the bus skidded off the road losing its control over steering around 1:15pm.

Some 12 passengers of the bus were injured in the mishap.

The injured were rushed to Osmani Medical College Hospital in a critical condition.

On information, police and fire fighters rushed to the spot to drive a rescue operation.

Sylhet Fire Service Assistant Director Shahidur Rahman said that five units of fire fighters took part in the rescue drive.

Osmaninagar Thana Officer-in-Charge confirmed the matter to banglanews. “The death toll may rise,” he added.
