Body of sunken tanker master recovered

KHULNA: Police on Sunday recovered the body of Mokhlesur Rahman, 50, the master of “OT Southern Star 7’ that sank in Shela River of Sundarbans on December 9.

The body was found floating on the river from a nearby place at Mrigmari area around 7:00am six days after the tanker had sank.

Confirming the matter, Mongla Thana Officer-In-Charge (OC) Belayet Hossain told banglanews that the body was kept at Joymony forest station.

Oil tanker 'OT Southern Star 7', carrying 357,664 litres of furnace oil, sank in Shela River in Chandpai range of Sundarbans after being hit by another tanker ‘MT Total’ in early hours of Tuesday.

Mokhlesur had been missing since the accident.
