DHAKA: A training-cum-awareness building campaign of Bashundhara Liquid Petroleum (LP) Gas Limited (BLPGL), one of the concerns of country’s leading business conglomerate Bashundhara Group, has been held on Sunday on safe use of LP gas to avoid accident.
The campaign titled ‘Nirapad Nibash (Safe Home)’ was arranged in a restaurant of Shib Bari intersection in Gazipur with the presence of several housewives.
Chief of the Operation and Planning Department of BLPGL Engineer Mohammad Jahidul Islam, General Manager (Sales) of BLPGL and SICL, Mir TI Faruk, BLPGL Divisional Manager Ali Ripon and distributor of the district Mohammd Abdul Jalil Sheikh, among others, were present at the event.
The organizers said that the distributors should maintain the quality to avert explosions of LP gas cylinder. Besides, awareness should be increased among the users.
According to the Gas Cylinder Act-1991, the gas cylinders need to be retested after every five years.
However, many companies don’t have the facility of retesting and maintaining quality. They are selling the low quality and dilapidated gas cylinders to the consumers without testing them.
Speakers, at the event, said that some dishonest businessmen are refilling unauthorized gas and selling them in markets. They also urged the consumers to buy cylinders from authorized dealers and retailers.
Besides Gazipur, the ‘Nirapad Nibash’ campaign has already been held in Bogra, Natore, Dinajpur, Naogaon, Gaibandha, Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj, Kushtia, Jheenaidah and Jessor districts.
As part of the campaign, Bashundhara LP Gas is arranging awareness building programs in district and upazila levels across the country.
