DHAKA: Border conference between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Myanmar Police Force (MPF) is underway at BGB headquarters at Pilkhana in the city Wednesday.
The conference, which started 10:00am on the day, will continue till December 20.
A 16-member delegation led-by BGB additional director general (north-east region) commander Latiful Haider is taking part in the conference with a six-member Myanmar delegation led by Deputy chief of Mayanmar Police Force Brigadier General Thein Oo.
Moreover, officials of Bangladesh foreign ministry, home ministry, Survey of Bangladesh and narcotics department have also participated in the conference.
Confirming the matter, BGB public relations officer Mohammad Mohsin Reza said to banglanews that the conference aims to enhance border security through strengthening the relations between the border security forces of the two neighboring countries.
Drug smuggling, among other issues, will get priority in the conference, he added.
He further said that the conference is a continuation of the previous meeting held in Myanmar in June.
A joint agreement is expected to be signed on December 20 and the visiting team will leave the country on the following day, he added.
