JHALAKATHI: Two people, including a woman, were killed in a road crash in Bhairabpasha area under Nalchhiti upazila of the district on Monday.

The deceased were identified as Hannan Sharif, son of Sobhan Sharif and Hafiza Begum, wife of Hasan, residents of the upazila.

Police sources said that a rashly driven passenger bus knocked them down in the area around 2:00pm, leaving them dead on the spot.

The agitated locals blockaded the road for two hours protesting the accident.

However, the bodies were sent to Jhalakathi Sadar Hospital morgue.

Police detained the bus driver and seized the bus in this connection.

Nalchhiti Thana Officer-in-Charge Abul Khayer confirmed the matter to banglanews.
