‘Rehabilitate Biranganas, war children’

DHAKA: International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 asked the government to initiate compensation schemes for Biranganas and war children to ensure their financial and social rehabilitation.

The tribunal led by Justice Obaidul Hasan passed the order while reviewing the death penalty to Syed Mohammad Qaisar, a former Jatiya Party state minister, for crimes against humanity and other offences during the 1971 Liberation War.

In reply to the compensation demand by prosecution, ICT asked Ministry for Liberation War affairs, Social Welfare Ministry and other NGOs to take necessary steps in this regard.

Allude to for the first time in war trial history in Bangladesh, a war child deposited against Qaisar.
