DHAKA: A suspected thief was beaten to death by a mob at Rasulbagh under Kamrungirchar of the city early Monday.

The deceased was identified as Swpan Mia, 35, son of late Abdul Motaleb of Munshihati area of Kamrungirchar.

Deceased’s brother-in-law Ismail told banglanews that someone phoned him at dawn and asked to rescue Swpan from angry local’s custody as he was caught while stealing at a house.

Later, family members recovered unconscious Swpan, tied up with ropes, and rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where duty doctor declared him dead at 8:15am.

DMCH police camp In-Charge Mozammel Haque confirmed the matter to banglanews.
