DHAKA: The ferry service carrying shipping minister Shahjahan Khan resumed after 12 hours of halt due to dense fog in Mawa-Kawrakandi route on Monday.
The services resumed around 11:00am.
Mawa ghat sources said the minister was returning Dhaka from Madaripur on Sunday. On the way, Shahjahan Khan and MP Bahauddin Nasim boarded the ferry ‘Kakoli’ from Kawrakandi around 10:30pm and got stuck in the ferry due to the dense fog.
After 12 hours of halt the ferry service on Mawa-Kawrakandi route resumed.
Earlier, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) authorities halted the service to avert any accident due to heavy fog.
