DHAKA: Two workers, including a female, drowned when a  brick crusher plunged into a roadside canal in Nama Shyampur area of the city on Friday morning.

The deceased were identified as Nazrul Islam, 30, and Hanufa, 40.

Police sources said the workers, driving the brick crushing machine, were crossing the road in the area. On arrival in front of a fan factory, the machine plunged into a roadside canal around 7:00am, leaving all of its six riders gone underwater.

Of them, four managed to swim to the waterside while two drowned there.

Kadamtali Thana Sub-Inspector Abdul Mannan confirmed the matter to banglanews.

On information, Fire Service and Civil Defense personnel recovered the bodies and sent those to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital morgue for autopsy, the SI added.
