DHAKA: Outgoing Dhaka Metropolitan Police commissioner Benazir Ahmed on Friday stressed on thinking and dreaming ‘big’ for the sake of country’s outstanding achievements and development.
He said “We have to stay ahead in the race of development and advancement, you (people) must think big. We are advancing, but we have to dream bigger, biggest achievement will be possible then.”
Benazir was addressing a marathon event as the chief guest in the city’s Hatirjheel in the morning.
Citing the marathon a good activity, he said people have to run for the nation’s dignity and for the national flag like this marathon, defeating others in the race.
Benazir hopped that this type of marathon would also be arranged in the national and regional levels in future, vowing to be with good activities in future wherever he stays.
Bangladesh national women’s team captain Sui Nu Pru Marma, Dr Samantalal Sen of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital’s burn unit, BRAC Bank Managing Director and Chef Executive Officer Mahbubur Rahma, were among others, present there.
A total of 1,400 officials and employees from different countries embassies, development organizations, multinational companies and BRAC Bank participated in the marathon.
BRAC Bank arranged the marathon, raising a fund of Tk21.2 lakh. Of the money, Tk 10 lakh will be given to Subarta Trust, a non-profit organization working on old age people’s welfare.
On December 30, 2014, government made Benazir the Director General of Rapid Action Battalion and he will join his new office on Saturday (January 3.).
