DHAKA: Two cleaners, who stepped into a manhole, suffocated to death at city’s Mugda area on Friday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Dila, 55 and Nuru, 60.

Sources told banglanews that the victims became unconscious while cleaning a manhole adjacent to Manik Nagar Model School and College in the area.

Later, according to the sources, both of the cleaners were declared dead on arrival at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).

Mugda Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) M Omar Faruk confirmed the matter.
