COX’S BAZAR: At least six helmsmen were injured as a visitors-laden ship hit a fishing trawler in Bangla Channel of St Martin’s Island in the Bay of Bengal on Friday.

St Martin’s Boat Owner Association president Abu Taleb confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said the ship hit he trawler in the Bay of Bengal around 3:30pm, leaving five helmsmen drown and another one injured.

However, the association members rushed to the spot and rescued them.

SI Harunur Rashid of St Martin’s police outpost told banglanews that they had sent a police team to the spot.
