Teacher hacked dead in Barisal

BARISAL: A schoolteacher was chopped to death allegedly by rivals over land dispute at Shikarpur village under Uzirpur upazila of the district on Friday night.

The victim was identified as Bipul Chandra Chakrabarty, 57, teacher of W. B. Union Institute of the upazila.

Victim’s brother Ashutosh Chakrabarty told banglanews that miscreants attacked his brother on his way home from a temple, stabbed him indeterminately with lethal weapon, leaving him critically injured.

Later, Bipul was whisked off to the Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctor declared him dead. 

He was died of hemorrhage, doctor said.

Bipul had a long-standing dispute over a piece of land with his neighbors and he might have been hacked to death by those rivals, alleged Ashutosh.

Uzirpur Thana Officer-In-Charge (OC) Nurul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Police are investigating into the killings and trying to nab the killers, said the OC.
