Blockade underway at CU, shuttle trains halted

CHITTAGONG: A faction of Chittagong University unit Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) has been observing blockade on the campus since Saturday morning, pressing for their six-point demands including trial of Tapas murder.

The strikers allegedly halted the movement of two shuttle trains of the university in the morning, causing immense miseries to general students of the varsity.

Campus sources said BCL-controlled Varsity Express (VEx), a bogie-based organization at CU, called the strike to press home their demands including arrest of ‘real’ killers of Taps Sarker, a BCL activist who was killed in a BCL-infighting.

Sholoshaor police outpost Caretaker Arab Ali confirmed banglanews of halting of the trains.

Ali said that some people opened the hose pipe of 12 bogies of two CU-bound trains in the Sholoshor rail station of the port city in the morning

As a result, no trains went to the university, he added.

The protesters other demands include-- ensuring the stay of BCL activists at the university dormitories, releasing the previously detained BCL men, and withdrawing false arms and killing cases filed against BCL leaders and activists.

Taposh was shot dead in a BCL factional clash on the campus on December 14 during placing floral wreath at Srimti Soudho at CU.
