DHAKA: Police recovered body of an activist of ruling Awami League from Duttargaon village under Sreenagar upazila of the district on Thursday.

The deceased was identified Ataur Rahman Sheikh, 48, son of Hajji Barek Sheikh of the area.

Police sources said that Ataur came out of his house on Wednesday night to go to Biswa Ijtema at Tongi.

However, the next day locals discovered his floating body in a pond adjacent to his house.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Munshiganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Miscreants might have killed him and left the body in the ditch, sources said.

Sreenagar Thana Sub-Inspector (SI) Anwar Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.
