DHAKA: A Bangladeshi pregnant woman went into labor during a flight and gave birth to a girl while the plane was in the air.

Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport sources said an Air Arabia G-9513 flight departed from Lebanon for Dhaka at Friday noon.

After some times of taking off the plane, the woman gave birth to a baby with the help of cabin crews and flight attendants.

Assistant Commissioner (preventive) Ruhul Amin of the airport told banglanews that being informed about the emergency incident they made prepare ambulance and took initial measures.

After the landing, the new mother and new born daughter were taken to the Jahanara Clinic of city’s Uttara area.

The customs authorities said the mother and her daughter are now out of danger.

“With the help of the flight’s cabin crews and other women the passenger gave birth. Moreover, the Air Hostesses were also trained to face such type of situation”, Air Arabia manager Harunur Rashid told banglanews.
