GAZIPUR: Four more devotees died of cardiac arrest and breathing problem when the first phase of Biswa Ijtema stepped into final day Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Abdus Subhan, 65, of Kaliganj upazila in Gazipur and Makbul Hossian, 75, of Alamdanga upazila in Chuadanga, Sadekur Rahman, 20, of Jakiganj upazila in Sylhet and Toazzel Hossian, 50, of Damurhuda in Chuadanga.
The first phase of Bishwa Ijtema will end on Sunday morning through a special prayer called ‘Akheri Munajat’ prayer for exaltation and welfare of the Muslim Ummah on the bank of river Turag in Tongi, outskirt of Dhaka city.
Makbul died around 11:00pm Saturday while Sadekur around 12:00am Sunday, Toazzel at 1:00pm and Abdus Subhan at 8:30am.
So far, seven devotees have died on the Ijtema ground.
But namaz-e-janaza of nine people was held at the Ijtema ground. Of them, two people died in outside the venue on Friday, the first day of the congregation.
Murubbi of Ijtema ground Engineer Gias Uddin confirmed the matters to banglanews.
