DHAKA: Hearing on the appeal of Jamaat-e-Islami leader Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid against his death sentence for committing crimes against humanity during the war of independence in 1971 was not held on Wednesday.
The four-member Appellate Division led by Justice SK Sinha passed ‘not today’ order in the morning.
Earlier on Tuesday, the case was listed on the business agenda for Wednesday.
Defendant’s lawyer Advocate Joynul Abedin Tuhin filed a time petition as their senior lawyer could not present the court.
On July 17 last year, the International Crimes Tribunal-2 awarded Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mujahid death penalty for five charges of wartime crimes.
Later, the Jamaat leader filed an appeal against the ICT-2 verdict on August 11 last year.
