GOALANDA, RAJBARI: Ferry services on the Daulatdia-Paturia route in the Padma river was disrupted on Thursday morning due to poor visibility caused by dense fog.

M Shafiqul Islam, manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) in Daulatdia, said the authorities suspended ferry services on the route from 6:00am as marking lights become blurred due to heavy fog.

Huge numbers of vehicles are waiting on both sides of the ferries, causing immense suffering to hundreds of passengers. 

Besides, six ferries with passengers and vehicles remained stuck in the mid Padma. 

The ferry services will resume after visibility returned, the manager added.
