JAMALPUR: A total of 3,740 round bullets of rifle were found at Pathorer Char village adjacent to India border in Dewanganj upazila of the district on Thursday.
On information, Police and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel recovered the huge ammunition recovery took place around 8:30am.
Police said workers are cutting soil for construction of a house of one Mamun Mia at the village. Seeing the ammunitions, they informed BGB members of Pathorer Char BOP. Later, members of BGB along with police rushed in and recovered the bullets.
Jamalpur BGB commander colonel Tariq Kabir told banglanews: “It is believed that those bullets might have been used by Pakistan Military force during liberation war in 1971.”
Dewanganj Thana officer-in-charge Mizanur Rahman told banglanews that the bullets are inactive as those had been hidden under soil for long.
