DHAKA: The customs authorities detained a Pakistani national along with 80 lakh Indian rupees from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport of the city on Thursday.

Joint Commissioner of the customs authorities Kazi M Zia Uddin Ahmed confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said that they detained a Qatar Airways passenger Imran on suspicion while he was crossing the green channel area around 6:05pm.

Later, custom authorities Assistant Commissioner Israt Jahan Ruma and Assistant Revenue Officer (ARO) Mahbube Khuda searched him and recovered the currency from his possession.

Zia Uddin said Imran has been taken under the custody of customs authorities and being interrogated.
