COX’S BAZAR: Four people, including a woman, were killed and 14 others injured in a collision between a picnic bus and a microbus in Baniarchara Station area under Chakaria Upazila Friday morning.

The deceased were identified as Tahera Banu, teacher of Cox’s Bazar KG School, her daughter Tasfia Islam Tammi, student of BRAC University in Dhaka, their housemaid Kohinur Akter and microbus driver Joynal Uddin, son of Ali Akber of Ukhia upazila.

Police, quoting the witnesses, said the accident took place when a Cox’s Bazar-bound bus, carrying tourists, collided head-on with a microbus in the area on Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway around 10:30am, leaving two dead on the spot and 16 others injured.

Of the injured, three, including Tammi, were rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital while 12 others to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital.

 A woman succumbed to her injures on way to hospital.  Later, Tammi, died at CMCH around 3:30pm.

An unnatural death case was filed in this connection, added the ASI.

Chiringa Highway police Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Foyezur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
