JnU student burnt in arson attack

DHAKA: A female student of Jagannath University (JnU) sustained burn injuries and five others were injured after miscreant set fire to a passenger bus in Rayerbag area of the city on Saturday morning.

The burn victim Sultana Islam Diba is a Masters student at Anthropology department of the university. 

Witnesses said miscreants set alight the bus of Swadesh Paribahan, carrying Diba along with others, on arrival of it in the area. At that time, Diba suffered burn to her legs and five others sustained injuries while getting down from the bus hurriedly.

Of the injured, Diba was rushed to National Medical College and Hospital in the area and later shifted to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for better treatment.

Jatrabari Thana Officer-In-Charge (OC) Abani Shankar confirmed the matter to banglanews.

None was arrested in this connection, he added.

DMCH’s doctor Partho Shankar told banglanews that Diba’s injuries is not severe and she has been kept under observation.

She will be released from the hospital within one or two days, added the doctor.
