KISHOREGANJ: Two people were killed as lightning struck them in Austagram Upazila of the district on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Narayan Das, 40, son of Mohan Lal, resident of Ikurdia village and Anwar Hossain, 34, son of Siraj and resident of Sharifpur village of the upazila.

Locals said that Narayan was killed as lightning struck him on his way back to home after fishing in a river at the noon.

On the other hand, Anwar, a farmer, was killed after being struck by the thunderbolt in Sharifpur around 1:45pm while he was working on his land.

Austagram Thana Officer-in-Charge Kamrul Islam confirmed the matters to banglanews.
