SHERPUR: A Sherpur court on Sunday sent 65 Awami League leaders and activists, including Jhinaigati upazila AL general secretary, to jail in two separate cases filed for vandalism and internal clash in a local conference.

Sherpur Chief Judicial Magistrate Sariful Islam passed the order to send the accused in jail rejecting the bail pleas.

Some of the accused are upazila AL ex-general secretary Golam Mostafa, ex-organizing secretary Mefazzal Hossain Chand, upazila Juba League president Abul Kalam Azad and upazila Chhatra League ex-president M Faruk Hossain.

Jhenaigati Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Fasihur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
