DHAKA: Prime minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock at the demise of eminent hockey player Jummon Lusai.
PM’s press wing sent a condolence massage to the media on Monday.
Hasina, in her condolence message, said Jummon Lusai was a talented hockey player who got chance to play in ‘world eleven’ as first Bangladeshi.
Jummon Lusai’s death was an irreparable loss for Bangladesh sports, the PM said in the message.
She also said people of the country will remember him with respect for his contribution.
The premier prayed for the peace of his departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
Earlier on Sunday, the former captain of Bangladesh Hockey Team passed away at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).
He was kept on life-support at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of BSMMU after being transferred from Bangladesh Medical College Hospital, where he had been admitted on Friday following a brain hemorrhage.
